Fraser Stryker welcomed another exceptional class of talented law students into our 2024 Summer Associate program. We are thrilled to share some insights from one of this year’s 1L law students, Soffi Olson.

A student at the University of Nebraska College of Law, Soffi Olson is a member of the professional law fraternity Delta Theta Phi (DTP) and UNL Law’s Student Bar Association. She also spends time volunteering at the Food Bank of Lincoln.

Before law school, Soffi graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with distinction, double majoring in Business Management and Business and Law. Outside of the classroom, she participated in the Order of Omega Honor Society and was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority, holding various leadership positions.

Q: Before this summer, what area(s) of law were you most interested in practicing? Describe how your interests changed or strengthened during your time as a Summer Associate.

A: Before summer, I had a budding interest in litigation, but was not fully certain I wanted to be in a court room. My first week, I was invited to attend both a hearing and a deposition. I really enjoyed the challenge and strategy aspect and could see myself doing litigation work in the future. Now, I am excited to delve deeper into litigation and continue working to find my niche.

Q: Describe a moment this summer where you felt that you made a positive impact on the firm/project/client interaction.

A: With Mark Brasee’s expertise, I got to meet with a client and lead a client meeting. At the end of the meeting the client told me the work I was doing for him was so satisfying to him and meant so much to him and his family. The little things go a really long way for individuals, so I was happy to have done something that left him feeling better about his situation.

Q: How did you feel like the mentorship provided by Fraser Stryker’s attorneys helped you during this summer?

A: The attorney mentors offered invaluable guidance on both specific legal issues but also broad legal issues. Their support and trust were instrumental throughout the summer, fostering an environment where I felt encouraged. The attorneys were also great resources when it came to client development. I was able to learn how to effectively work and communicate with clients and ensure a positive experience.
