According to the Best Lawyers® website: “recognition by Best Lawyers is based entirely on peer review. Our methodology is designed to capture, as accurately as possible, the consensus opinion of leading lawyers about the professional abilities of their colleagues within the same geographical area and legal practice area.

In addition to individual Best Lawyers’ recognitions, we also award a “Lawyer of the Year” accolade to individual lawyers who received the highest overall peer feedback for a specific practice area and geographic region. Only one lawyer is recognized as the “Lawyer of the Year” for a specialty and metropolitan location per edition. It is possible, for a lawyer to receive multiple “Lawyer of the Year” awards.

Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch™ awards use our Purely Peer Review® methodology to highlight excellence in legal talent for lawyers who are earlier in their careers. Like our traditional Best Lawyers awards, “Ones to Watch” awarded lawyers are recognized for their work in specific area of law.”
