In this Fraser Stryker attorney spotlight, white collar criminal defense and civil litigation attorney Eric Wells reflects on his legal career and what keeps him grounded outside of work.

Q: What has been the most rewarding aspect of your legal career so far?

A: The most rewarding part of my legal career is resolving my client’s issues and experiencing their reactions. While winning my first jury trial as lead attorney was significant, the joy I hear from my clients is by far the most fulfilling aspect of my work.

Q: How do you approach building strong relationships with your clients?

A: I think the best way to build strong relationships with clients is to be open and honest. It’s important to be an active and attentive listener, without any pretense. The focus needs to be on understanding how to help them, setting expectations, and consistently following through on commitments.

Q: What is your favorite way to unwind after a busy day or week?

A: The best way for me to unwind after a busy day/week is to set aside work and focus on my family. I love spending time with my wife, two girls, and Winnie the goldendoodle. My wife will tell you that I’m an excellent sous chef, dicing and chopping whatever odd recipe she comes up with.

Q: What is a fun fact about you that most people would not know?

A: Fun fact – I have a twin sister who is a foot shorter than me but also shares my love for cookie cake on our birthday which makes sharing a birthday with someone else much easier!
