Fraser Stryker welcomes our 2020 Summer Associate Class to the Firm: Andrew J. Ascher, Shayna N. Bartow, Chelsey B. Borchardt, and Kaitlin A. Madsen. The Fraser Stryker Summer Associate program is designed to provide law students with exposure to diverse, substantive legal areas, as well as the individual practice styles of various attorneys. Fraser Stryker provides our Summer Associates real world experience, feedback, mentoring and time devoted to community involvement. Learn more about our 2020 Summer Associate Class below:
INTRODUCING THE 2020 SUMMER ASSOCIATE CLASS:
Andrew J. Ascher
As a first year law student at the University of Iowa College of Law, Andrew J. Ascher will graduate in May 2022. Prior to attending the University of Iowa’s College of Law, Andrew graduated from Creighton University with a Bachelor of Arts double major in Psychology and Philosophy, specializing in Ethics and a minor in Legal Studies.
Andrew has spent time volunteering at several nonprofits throughout his college career, including Restored Hope, Jesuit Academy and the Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility.
While attending Creighton University, Andrew served on the Freshman Leadership Program and was a member of The Creightones a cappella group, serving as Vice President and President during his time with the group. Andrew’s prior experience includes a Law Clerk internship for a Kansas City, MO firm and Assessments Intern at the Creighton University EDGE Office.
Shayna N. Bartow
Shayna N. Bartow is currently attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Law with a graduation date of May 2021. As a 2L student, Shayna is a Nebraska Law Review member, Schmid Law Library research fellow and a Student Board Member for client counseling competitions.
Prior to attending the University of Nebraska’s College of Law in Lincoln, Shayna graduated Summa Cum Laude from Creighton University with a Bachelor of Arts double major in Justice and Society and a minor in Spanish.
While at Creighton University, Shayna was on the Dean’s List, Alpha Sigma Nu Jesuit Honor Society, Phi Beta Kappa Academic Honor Society, and was an Outstanding Justice and Peace Studies student. Shayna also spent the Fall 2014 semester studying at the Institute for Latin American Concern in Santiago, Dominican Republic, acting as an English language tutor and volunteer at a local orphanage. Shayna’s prior experience includes Law Clerk at the Douglas County Public Defender office, Legislative Aide in the Nebraska Legislature and a volunteering at the Sarpy County Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program.
Chelsey B. Borchardt
Chelsey B. Borchardt is currently a first year law student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Law and will graduate in May 2022. Chelsey is a 1L Representative for the Nebraska OUTlaw, a member of the Student Bar Association and Women’s Law Caucus. Prior to attending the University of Nebraska’s College of Law in Lincoln, Chelsey graduated from the University of Nebraska-Omaha with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Creative Writing.
While attending the University of Nebraska-Omaha, Chelsey was the President of “The Crop”, a student-led writers’ workshop, a Resident
Advisor at University Village, the President of the Residence Hall Council and was a Dean’s List honoree. Throughout college, Chelsey’s work experience was focused in human resources, including working as a Recruitment and Admissions Coordinator for Nebraska Methodist College where she was a member of both the NMC Council for Americans with Disabilities and the NMC Social Justice and Inclusion Council.
Kaitlin A. Madsen
Kaitlin A. (Kait) Madsen is currently attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Law with a graduation date of May 2021. Kait is currently the Senior Articles Editor for the Nebraska Law Review and the Treasurer of the Nebraska Women’s Law Caucus. Before law school, Kait worked for three years as a community organizer at Nebraska Appleseed.
Prior to attending the University of Nebraska’s College of Law in Lincoln, Kait graduated Summa Cum Laude from Loyola University-Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Anthropology and
minoring in Women’s Studies and International Studies. While at Loyola University-Chicago, Kait was on the Maroon and Gold Society, Alpha Sigma Nu Jesuit Honor Society and was awarded the Chardin Anthropology Award for Most Outstanding Graduating Senior. Kait also spent the Summer of 2013 studying at the University Studies Abroad Consortium in Prague, Czech Republic.
This is Kait’s second year as a Summer Associate at Fraser Stryker and we’re happy to have her return to the Firm as part of the 2020 Class.
