Paul earned his J.D. from Creighton University School of Law in 1989 and was admitted to practice in Iowa and Nebraska. After gaining experience at several Omaha law firms, he found his professional home at Fraser Stryker, where he spent the past 25 years of his career. Paul provided straightforward, strategic counsel to local, national, and international clients on a wide range of corporate, real estate, commercial, and transactional matters. Known by his colleagues as a consummate professional and excellent mentor, he led by example and taught young lawyers how to produce professional, accurate, and succinct solutions for our clients.
“Paul Halbur’s contribution to Fraser Stryker and its clients is immeasurable,” said Michael Coyle, Partner and Executive Committee member. “A brilliant and gifted lawyer, Paul was able to reduce complex problems to simple solutions—a rare talent. Paul Halbur’s big family upbringing and Carroll, Iowa roots served him well. Trusted and admired, every person who dealt with Paul knew his word was his bond. We will miss him, but his dedication to the clients he so faithfully served will live forever.”
“All of us at Fraser Stryker are still processing the loss of Paul Halbur, our beloved colleague, mentor, and friend,” said Paul Shotkoski, Partner and Executive Committee member. “Paul was the attorney who kept his door open and welcomed conversations about the law, pending projects, and life in general. Farming and hunting were high on his list of topics for discussion. We will truly miss Paul. Rest assured, our fond memories of him will last forever.”
Later in his career, Paul was rated AV® Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell®, was regularly included in The Best Lawyers in America® in the fields of Mergers & Acquisitions Law (since 2019), Banking & Finance Law (since 2021), Corporate Law (since 2021), and Real Estate Law (since 2023), and was named Best Lawyers® 2025 Real Estate Law “Lawyer of the Year” in Omaha.
Paul actively volunteered in his community and the legal profession throughout his career, serving on the Board of Directors and committees for Fontenelle Forest, Nebraska Continuing Legal Education, and the Nebraska Bar Association.
